Peek A Boo Mending at ArtPace

Peek a Boo mending is a whimsical patching technique where you sew fabric on the inside of a garment, then cut away the top (garment) fabric so that your fun pattern “peeks” out from underneath! Bring your neglected garments and give them an entirely new personality in this hands-on workshop. Expect to pick from a wide variety of secondhand fabrics (provided by us) to pair with your garment, then be led through the process of mapping out your patches with paper stencils, sewing them in, and refining your cutouts with your choice of distressed or stitched finishing! All supplies will be provided aside from your garment. Garments with thick, tightly woven fabric, ie, cargo pants, hoodies, denim, work best.

What’s included:

  • All necessary supplies aside from your secondhand garment, including needles, thread, etc.

  • Thorough instruction on basic sewing techniques such as threading your needle & stitching by hand, as well as hemming/finishing techniques for your raw edges

  • All participants can expect to leave with a fully mended garment!
